Long before the purity laws of 1516 that enshrined malt, hops and water into beer making law, the Germanic people have been enjoying the world’s most popular alcoholic drink.
And then in the 19th century 3 became 4, with the discovery of yeast - or where the magic happened, as they had previously thought.
In the week that traditionally marks the beginning of the end of Bavaria’s Oktoberfest celebrations, 3 also becomes 4 as we enter the year’s fourth and final quarter with the commencement of October.
