Some Things | Vol. 35: Out of this world
Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock - better known collectively as Beastie Boys - transcended genres and helped redefine the Hip-Hop landscape of 1980s America and beyond. With a background in the far removed world of experimental hardcore punk, they introduced new audiences to the ever-evolving sound of the East Coast & won critical acclaim in the process.
Whilst they were picking up Grammy’s in 1999, including Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for single Intergalactic, the United Nations General Assembly were also busy in New York in declaring this week World Space Week.
