Some Things | Vol. 59: The power of film
“I think empathy is a beautiful thing. I think that’s the power of film though. We have one of the most powerful, one of the greatest communicative tools known to man…” Michelle Rodriguez”
Whether it’s the story or message within it, the purpose behind it, or the craft that goes into making it, film can inspire us, challenge us to have difficult conversations, & transform how we connect with others.
This was one of the driving factors we developed our Something™ Originals platform to enable ourselves & the creators we work with to challenge cultural norms, reframe how we think about certain subjects & provide an opportunity for underrepresented creators to work with brands & reach a wider audience through film.
So, after the BAFTA’s & as we head into Oscar’s season here are Some Things to inspire you this week:

  1. Aneil Karia & Riz Ahmed turn moments of nightmares into the success of dreams - The Long goodbye via WePresent
  2. Should’ve, Could’ve, Would’ve? Every Love story has one - Check out this short story via TikTok
  3. Dead Of Night - a horror film exclusively from the POV of the smartphone bought to you by Snapchat via Youtube
  4. We love this visual album by Topaz Jones. Don’t Go Tellin’ Momma explores the formulation of the Black ABC’s via The New York Times
  5. Find out why Kinuyo Tanaka was, and still is, one of the most celebrated stars in the history of Japanese cinema via Instagram
Can’t wait till next week for more things? Follow us on Instagram. And don’t forget to sign up to TMRRW Magazine here.
We’re always on the lookout for like-minded people & brands to collaborate with. Drop us a line & let’s make Something™ happen.
